Santarém is very lucky to have so many natural attractions so close to the city.

In less than an hour you can be in the middle of the forest with huge trees hundreds of years, or on beaches apparently so remote that makes us feel being the first human to step them.

There is no doubt that boat is the best means of transport in the Amazon, but if you do not have the time, Santarém is where you can see as much of the Amazon in a minimum of time.

Note that a brief description follows:

The indigenous village of Borarís, currently Alter do Chão, it is considered by many as one of the most majestic of the entire Amazon. Imagine if put the white beaches of the Caribbean, the emerald-green waters of Tahití, climate of spring all year, docile and hospitable people and a divine cooking, all in one place. So is Alter do Chão.

The main points of this tour are:

The Port of Deep Santarém.

Municipal market where we see regional products such as fruit, vegetables, the forest products, fish, medicinal plants, etc.

The basilica of N. S. The Conception, array of Santarém.

The great and famous crucifix donated by the German scientist Martius, for having survived a shipwreck on the Amazon River near Santarém in the nineteenth century.

The Amazon and Tapajós rivers are facing the city of Santarém and run side by side a few kilometers away before the Amazon completely absorb the Tapajós.

While they run side by side, each preserves the characteristics of its waters, the Amazon barrento and Tapajós blue transparent.

You can see the meeting of the waters of the city, but nothing replaces the feeling of going there in a boat or canoe.

You will be at the same time on two of the largest rivers in the world.
